Uninstalling K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 4.9.5, Help!
(5 posts)Hey guys!
I've been recently reading about Codecs and how bad they become in over time. I've had K-Lite Mega Codec Pack 4.9.5 installed my gaming PC and need some instructions on how to uninstall this pack the correct way. I read that IF I were to just uninstall this pack the normal way, I would be uninstalling more than just the codecs this package gave me; codecs that originally came with the PC. So I guess what I'm asking is what codecs are in this package that I need to manually remove and where can I get a utility to fix, or replace them. I looked on Steam forums and read K-Lite packages interferes with certain or most games audio and causes an error, crash, and even drivers.

My OS is XP Pro SP3.
I used the free Revo uninstaller without any problems to uninstall my K-Lite pack. Make sure you use the highest option (last and fourth option). Then you can delete all the many registry entries and files that the codec pack has made.
Cool, thank you. Just a question now; for the 4th option for uninstall, it scans for remaining info 'Found leftover Reg. items'. I got about 2500 remaining; are they all linked with K-Lite or is some of it originals. Here I'll post a screen shot if I can.

Well, here's 80% of it, left some cut out, but anywho. The bold items mean their all link to K-Lite, if not which from what you can see here aren't? Yeah, I'm a noob @ this. Lol
I know. That's why I recommended REVO - to get rid of all those entries.
